The Most Effective Method for Recovering Deleted WhatsApp Messages

Have you ever mistakenly deleted a conversation on WhatsApp and then quickly regretted it? Do you want a way to get it back? Don't be concerned; we're here to help. We'll talk about how to get your deleted WhatsApp conversations back, as well as one method for getting your conversations back after an iCloud or Google Drive backup has replaced them. Before attempting the methods, keep in mind that you can only restore chats if WhatsApp's backup feature was initially activated. This means you won't be able to recover any unintentionally deleted messages or chats if you never made a backup of your chats.

We should also mention that, while these methods for restoring lost WhatsApp chats have proven to be effective for us, they do necessitate uninstalling WhatsApp and then restoring from the most recent backup. As a result, some messages received between the time of your most recent backup and the unintentional deletion of a chat may be lost. In any case, proceed with extreme caution and only follow these instructions if recovering deleted WhatsApp conversations is critical enough to risk losing some data. You should proceed at your own risk, as Gadgets 360 is not responsible for data loss.

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Chats > Chat backup to enable chat backup. You have the option to manually backup your chats as well as change the frequency of backups to never, daily, weekly, or monthly. You must also choose the Google account where you want the backup to be saved if you have an Android smartphone.

If you use an iPhone, you can choose the Auto Backup frequency or use Back Up Now to manually start a backup to iCloud by going to Settings within WhatsApp > Chats > Chat Backup.

Getting back deleted WhatsApp chats

Here are several ways to recover deleted WhatsApp chats.

cloud backup to recover deleted WhatsApp conversations

There is a possibility that a deleted chat was saved in your cloud backup if you deleted it mistakenly.Assume your Google Drive or iCloud backup was completed at midnight, and you unintentionally deleted a communication the next morning. If the chat is still saved in the cloud backup, you can restore it. Here's how:

WhatsApp should be deleted from your iPhone or Android device.

Reinstall WhatsApp and enter your phone number to activate it.

As soon as the app is set up, you will be invited to restore messages from a cloud backup.

On Android and iOS, this backup would come via iCloud and Google Drive, respectively. Click Restore.

Your accidentally deleted emails will be restored. Remember that if you deleted a message after the most recent cloud backup, there is no way to recover it.

Using a local backup to restore lost WhatsApp chats on Android

Another approach is to try to recover deleted WhatsApp chats from your Android phone's local backups. On iOS, this strategy is unsuccessful. If the deleted communications have been replaced by a Google Drive backup, then adhere to these steps.

Navigate to your phone's File Manager (download Google's Files app if you can't find it). Now choose Database by going to the WhatsApp folder. The Database folder on your phone is where you'll find all of WhatsApp's local backup files.

After selecting it, rename the file msgstore.db.crypt12 to msgstore BACKUP.db.crypt12. This file, your most recent backup, needs to be renamed in order to prevent overwriting. You can always change this file to its original name and do a restore if something goes wrong.

This folder's files will now be named msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12. You can rename the most recent WhatsApp backup to msgstore.db.crypt12.

One challenging requirement is that you must open Google Drive on your phone and choose Backups by hitting the hamburger button (the three vertical lines). Delete the backup of WhatsApp from there now. Your phone will be forced to restore from the local backup as a result.

Reinstall WhatsApp once it has been uninstalled. If you don't have a cloud backup of your chats, you'll be prompted to restore them from a local backup after you set it up.

Then click Restore to finish. Your deleted chats will be restored.

These two methods can therefore be used if you accidently deleted your WhatsApp chats or if you recently installed WhatsApp and wish to recover your past conversations.. In either case, As previously stated, you must enable the chat backup option in order to restore any messages.
